How You Can Help Nima
you can save a life.
1. If you are in the United States, please join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)Please visit a donor center or recruitment group closest to you. To obtain a list of local donor centers in your area, please click here. At the donor center, please ask for HLA type testing. Since race and ethnicity are known to play a major role, members of the same ethnic group are more likely to have matching HLA genes. The HLA type test which you should ask for is either a simple blood or mouth-swab test. The test costs $52 and is tax-deductible. If you are unable or prefer not to pay this fee, please have the local donor center charge the Save Nima Fund which has been setup by the Marrow Foundation. We are working very hard to increase the size of this resource, to ensure that no potential donor is refused by this NMDP imposed fee. Once you have given your sample -- there is nothing else to do. The donor center will take care of the rest.
